NAU HEALTH SCIENCES

The Department of Health Sciences prepares students for careers and further study in the health sciences.

The B.S. in Health Sciences: Community Health Promotion: prepares students for careers in community health education and health promotion in such settings as hospitals, governmental health agencies, and work site health promotion programs.

The B.S. Ed. in Health Sciences: Physical Education and School Health prepares students for teacher certification and positions in K-12 schools.

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Sciences is earned entirely through a distributed learning format and allows working allied health professionals to earn the degree in a flexible format.

The Bachelor of Science in lnterdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Speech Language Sciences and Technology prepares students for entry into a graduate program in Communication Sciences & Disorders and related fields.

A Speech-Language Pathology (SLPA) Certificate provides technical coursework needed to become a speech-language pathology assistant. For more information, click here.

A Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences: Allied Health programs provides a bachelor completion program for students in one of the allied health fields with an associates or future or prior student in one of the clinical  program,  and

The Department also offers a web-based Master in Administration emphasis in Health Sciences.

Residental (on-campus) Programs:

A residential (on-campus Flagstaff) student may select either a B.S. Health Sciences major degree with an emphasis in Community Health or a B.S. Ed. Degree with an emphasis in Physical Education and School Health.

Students interested in the B.S. in Health Sciences, Community Health Education degree must complete and submit an application for admission.

Online Programs:

A Distance Learning student who majors in Health Sciences must apply to be admitted to the Distance Learning program, and if admitted, must select either:

BS. in Health Sciences: Community Health
B.A. S. in Health Sciences

Bachelor Completion Programs in Allied Health (requiring a student to be current, prior or in the process of getting their associates in one of the following areas)
B.S. in Health Sciences: Diagnostic Medical Imaging and Therapy
BS in Health Sciences: Respiratory Care
BS in Health Sciences: Physical Therapist Assisting
BS in Health Sciences: Surgical Technology
BS in Health Sciences: Paramedic Care
BS in Health Sciences: Medical Assisting
